Chester County Renovation
Project Description
Set high above the rolling landscape of Chester County, this renovation in West Chester was designed to strengthen the connection between the home and its surroundings. Janiczek Homes reimagined the kitchen, library, primary suite, and outdoor living spaces, creating a home that embraces the property's sweeping valley views while enhancing the way the family lives every day.
The renovation centered on opening the home to the landscape. A new two-story porch, covered veranda, and pergola extend naturally from the primary suite to a flagstone patio anchored by a custom stone fire pit, creating outdoor spaces that are equally suited for quiet evenings and entertaining family and friends.
Inside, the library was transformed into a warm, inviting retreat with walnut paneling, corbeled beams, stained oak flooring, and a custom dry bar overlooking the patio. Rich natural materials and carefully crafted architectural details give the room a timeless character while making it a comfortable place to work, read, or gather.
The kitchen was redesigned as the heart of the home, combining custom cabinetry, a generous Calacatta marble island, open wine storage, and thoughtfully integrated workspace into a room built for everyday living. Warm wood accents balance the natural stone, creating a space that feels refined, welcoming, and connected to the rest of the home.
Throughout the renovation, every improvement was made with a clear purpose: strengthen the home's connection to its setting, improve functionality, and create spaces that feel both timeless and comfortable for the family who lives there.
Behind the Build
On this project, the landscape was one of the property's greatest assets. Rather than focusing on individual rooms, a strong focus is placed on how the home could better engage with its surroundings. By opening living spaces to the outdoors and creating stronger connections between the interior, patios, and valley views, the renovation transformed not only the house itself, but the way it is experienced every day.
